Crash The Tea Party?

Jason Levin, a Beaverton, Oregon teacher, created the website www.CrashTheTeaParty.org with the intent to recruit disruptors for the Tea Party demonstrations tomorrow. Their intent is to discredit the Tea Party by carrying racist and hateful signs and to provoke racist or hateful comments by Tea Partiers and record them for news circulation.

This morning I infiltrated his website, and found something unexpectedly interesting: The majority of comments posted in the forum were PRO Tea Party, and denounced the intent to disrupt. The ratio was easily 10 to 1 in favor of the Tea Party. As you would expect, many of the site's supporters used extremely foul and provocative language to disparage Tea Party supporters, and several even called for violent action. What a surprise!?!

Today, Jeff Mapes of The Oregonian posted that Levin is now being investigated by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission of Oregon State because "there was enough concern that there was some neglect of duty" on Levin's part. One of the aspects they could investigate is if Levin, who teaches in the Conestoga Middle School media lab, used school computers to create or maintain the website.

  1. Thanks for posting this, I was aware of the site, and had visited it the other day. I did not know that Levin had gotten into trouble for doing it from a school. I'll be doing a post on it as well. I'll link back to yours.
